The Hennings

I hope everyone is coping as well as they can in this heat, particularly my perimenopausal/menopausal sisters. Speaking for myself, my body already runs its own heatwave without the weather getting in on the act.

I have had some good news recently though. As I mentioned in a previous post, I have been on a stress mission trying to get hold of my HRT patches. I had been forced to go cold turkey since Easter but Lloyds Direct were finally able to get them. I was so happy and relieved when they arrived.

Over the last week I've noticed a dramatic difference with the sometimes cystic acne I get along my jaw and throat. Cleared straight up within a couple of days of my first patch being smacked onto my booty.

I think it's having a positive effect on my fatigue as well as I have been keeping a consistent sleep pattern for a few days now which has been no mean feat for me in recent months.

Now, after that intro I'd like to open The Hennings! It's like The Oscars but instead I express my gratitude to The Academy of Awesome People and get emotional and saccharine about the love and support I have received from my nearest and dearest.

To my husband Adam, who sees me at my best and absolute worst and still ferries me cups of tea. Who will give me a cuddle when I'm exhausted, unable to sleep and/or in pain. For sending me funny videos and memes, film news that he knows I'll be interested in. For the times that make me feel warm inside when we'll say the same thing at the same time, usually a film quote. For always being on my side. Thank you.

To my boys Aragorn & Hardy who are the best nurse cats. They're such darling boys and better than any hot water bottle. They stick close to me and always know when I'm struggling. Thank you.

To my brother Lee, who regularly checks in to see how I'm doing. I always enjoy our video chats and nobody else can make me laugh till I wheeze. Turbo thank you.

To my best friend Kristy, who is always so thoughtful and considerate about my comfort. Who makes me laugh and regularly sends me messages of all kinds. Who gives me space to not be okay and that is okay. Thank you and I love your face.

To my friend Emily, who is always so kind. I remember a few weeks ago when I was feeling really low due to painsomnia and my body clock was all over the place and when I eventually surfaced there was a box waiting for me containing an amazing afternoon tea from Cutter & Squidge. Thank you.

To Rai who showers me with much needed cute animal videos and GIF wars on a regular basis that can coax a smile even at my lowest ebb. She also gifted me a really helpful book called Gracefully Ill by Colleen George. Thank you.

To Francesca who has kept me company with many a late night WhatsApp chat session, even when I'm basically vomiting stress or Hallowe'en stuff! Thank you.

To BatMark for always being such an easy person to be with. I always look forward to his visits and messages in the Batcave WhatsApp group. Thank you.

To horror Twitter friends for keeping it spooky and the lovely Peter Laws Patreon members and the fun Zoom socials. Thank you.

For anyone that has had a kind word for me or has read, liked or shared my blog, thank you!

In my next post I will talk about being off work and the support I have received from my boss and HR.

Thank you for the shout out! Much appreciated as is your friendship. Just light up the Bat Signal and I'll be there. I'm glad you're feeling better.
