The Rebellion

Since we had our party, I have been feeling a bit fluey. A couple of days ago I took a Covid test, just in case, and I was clear.

One of the reasons why I book a lot of time off at this time of year, isn't just because I like taking time off during my favourite time of year, but because I know my body will have a bit of a revolt after all the party prep.

I remain grateful that my body got me through and let me have a good time, but the rebellion was inevitable.

I'm not in full flare-up territory, thankfully. It's just been mild, flu-like symptoms and tiredness and a small increase in pain. These are known quantities to me so I've just been hibernating. I understand some of my body's foibles so it's good to be prepared, which is why I always factor that in when booking my work leave each year. Recovery time should never be underestimated.

I have been spending the majority of my days under a blanket with a book or Netflix and just taking the time to rest and recharge.

I am back at work on Thursday. My holiday has flown by but one of the things I factored into my time off was returning to work later in the week, so I'll have a couple of days to catch up on work and start getting back into the routine, and it's not long until the weekend.

Does it bother me that I need all of that time for recovery rather than doing stuff? Yes and no. It's difficult not to get stuck into the mindset that the time is being wasted. I don't want to sleep all my time off away but resisting it leads nowhere good.

I have managed to do some tidying up, and de-Hallowe'ening was a big task that would have been easy to sack off but we did it and not having that hanging over me was a good feeling.

Tomorrow, we are hopefully going to our local pub for lunch and after that I will be a God of War widow for a while, but it's fine. I know I will enjoy watching my husband play it, and any excuse for me to read!
